Gardening for Butterflies

Most people enjoy seeing butterflies in their gardens. Butterflies also play an important role in pollination. In this class, you will learn how to attract a variety of different butterflies and moths by growing nectar-producing flowers for the adults and, perhaps more importantly, host plants for their caterpillars. We will also review the life cycle of butterflies and the identification of butterflies and moths common to our area. An emphasis will be placed on growing native plants, as they are most suitable for maintaining healthy insect populations.
