Living with Deer, the Pests We Hate to Love

White-Tailed Deer have become overpopulated in Southeastern Pennsylvania, where the suburban landscape provides ideal habitat free of predators. As much as we may appreciate deer's beauty, we can also grow frustrated with damage from grazing and antler rubs. This class will review different approaches to reducing such damage, including the use of barriers, repellents, mechanical devices, and browse-tolerant/resistant plants. By incorporating one or more of these strategies into our landscaping practices, we can minimize harm to our gardens from deer and perhaps begin to enjoy the sight our hoofed neighbors once again.
